3ds max tutorial - How to create a transparent net

Hey friends,
Today we are going to learn how can make a transparent net easily in 3d studio max.

Beginner students have a big headache for create a transparent net in some type of architectural scene or landscape design. Because this is a big challenge that making some types of pattern hole in mesh object for looking like a real transparent net. But an simple OPACITY MAP can give us a great result in 3 simple step.

Now we have to go give material to plane object ( Yes, A plane object because plane object has only one front side and box has 4 side. it may risky for look like real. )

2nd STEP -- GIVE MATERIAL TO OBJECT

Hit 'M' or go to RENDERING >> MATERIAL EDITOR for call up the material editor. Click on DIFFUSE map and select a downloaded Net jpeg file as per  below. In bitmap parameters. (Change the tiling amount  for appropriate looking as per scene.)

3rd STEP -- INSTANT COPY TO OPACITY  MAP

Now its time to give opacity to object. select DIFFUSE map and drag into OPACITY map. pop up box display for copy option. select INSTANT COPY. (Instant copy offer us facility of changes automatically in opacity map when we change diffuse map settings like tiling amount, blurring amount, change bitmap file etc.)

Hit 'F9' for quick render and enjoy a transparent net.

3ds max tutorial-How to make a tree using opacity map from image.

Hello friends,

This tutorial will help you that how can import a tree using opacity map in 3ds max scene via transparent image. I  know that is very difficult and not usable import lowpoly or mesh object in 3d scene because they require many space in scene and finally our scene file will more huge.

In an architectural scene background or environment of scene has a big roll of scene mood. it will require lot of types tree, plant, grass and many more. For fill this requirement we import generally mesh or poly object to scene for natural look but this can very danger for our scene due to huge file size and more chance of corrupt the file due to graphics driver support possibilities.

HOW DO YOU FEEL THAT AN IMAGE DO SAME LIKE POLY OR MESH ?

Yes, A transparent image do same as low poly object or mesh object.O.K. now its time to learn that how can it possible in 3ds max.

HOW CAN IMPORT TREE WITH USING OPACITY MAP AND TRANSPARENT IMAGE.

First, Create a simple vertical plane. Its size should be approx like natural tree.

USING TRANSPARENT IMAGE AND RGB COLOR IMAGE

O.K.now press 'M' for call up material editor. In material editor select simply diffuse map and select image of tree (RGB color)

Now that's time for apply a transparent image ( Black & white image ) in opacity map. For remove the other parts of tree in image.(See below image.)

After applying a transparent image to that plane we can see that unnecessary image part of tree automatically remove because Opacity map allow visible only white portion of black and white image and its black portion automatically removed.

 Press 'F9' for quick render.

Matte-Shadow material tutorial in 3d studio max.

MATTE-SHADOW MATERIAL

CAN WE PLACE A 3D OBJECT IN 2D IMAGE IN 3D STUDIO MAX ?

Yes, We can. Today we learn such types of amazing effect through Matte-Shadow material and learn that How can place a 3D object in 2D image or background  through Mental ray renderer in 3d studio max. Matte-Shadow material also create a real environment shadow in 2D image this is a special effect in this material.O.K. Now  we start from place a 2D image and create background.

  • Go to >>MENU>>RENDERING>>ENVIRONMENT
Change its color BLACK and Click on NONE from below  Environment map and select an appropriate bitmap image for background from our library or .

  • Change Perspective view port setting as per below image for insert environment bitmap image into the background. (Right click on Smooth+Highlights from view port Top left. )

Now its time for Add 3d model to view port. First, We create a plane object and insert or modeling an object or model to the view port and set it. (You must Rotate, Move and Scale the object for set it to bitmap surface like we really see that our 3D object stands on 2D image surface.)

BITMAP IMAGE WITHOUT INSERT A 3D MODEL

3D MAX SCENE WITH INSERT 3D CAR MODEL AND A PLANE OBJECT

GIVE MATTE-SHADOW MATERIAL :

  • Select PLANE object and Press 'M' for call up Material editor and select an Empty slot.
  • Give Matte/Shadow/Reflection material from Mental ray material to the Empty slot. (See below image )

CAMERA MAPPING :

In the Camera Mapped Background Change color to BLACK and Drag Environment map from Environment background ( As per below image ) to Camera Mapped Background in material editor.

GIVE SHADOW TO THE 2D IMAGE :

Now, We are going to give shadow to the 2D image from create a SKY LIGHT and TARGET SPOT LIGHT from the Top view and change the Shadow setting.
